Book a cottage by the lake

Wherever in Lombardy you rent your holiday flat, you won’t be far from the many great attractions the northern Italy region provides. In Milan, the biggest city in North Italy, you can shop for the latest designer fashions, take in a performance of opera or theatre, or go for a stroll among the many superb museums and beautiful churches that dot the city; the most religious building is The Duomo, the city’s huge Gothic cathedral. To the north of Milan is the Como area, where you’ll find Lake Como, Lake Garda, and Lake Maggiore stunning lakes that are matched in beauty by the surrounding mountain range. In Val Camonica you’ll find many areas of interest, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites, medieval villages, castles, and ancient Roman baths.

When to rent a holiday home in Lombardy

Lombardy combines low lying cities with mountains, and as such the weather can vary greatly depending on where in the region you are. Generally speaking, however, summer is considered the best season, with pleasant temperatures and long sunny days. Winters are characterised by cool temperatures and heavy snowfall in the mountains around Lake Como. If you’re looking to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities of northern Lombardy, it’s best to visit between April and October for your holiday.
