This is how holiday rental owners described Puerto del Carmen
uerto del Carmen is situated in the southern-central part of the island, some 10 minutes away from the international airport, and is Lanzarote’s main tourist area. It grew from just a small fishing village with few inhabitants to become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Canary Islands.

It was named in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen. The Day of El Carmen’s festivities involve carrying the Virgin on board a ship and sailing a short route along the coast of Lanzarote.
Puerto del Carmen’s success is largely owed to the more than 6 km of beaches that line its coast, its calm and peaceful waters and its rewarding natural surroundings. Running parallel to the coast is the Avenida de las Playas, a broad promenade that combines all kinds of tourist services on the one hand, such as shops, businesses, cafés, restaurants and leisure arcades, and miles of peaceful beaches on the other.
