The collection of religious art in the cathedral of St Blaise can be found behind the chancel. It features some remarkable pieces including an impressive collection of reliquaries, priests robes and early Christian sculptures from churches in the region.
The Holy Bodies together with the relics of the saints were brought to the Vodnjan in 1818.
The Bodies, as well as the remains are not embalmed and as such represent an inexplicable phenomenon of self-preservation. At a CT scan in 2009, it was established that the Bodies of Saint John Olini and Saint Nikoloza were preserved containing all of their internal organs, which is considered an unique worldly specimen of self-preservation by the anthropologist and archaeologist Dr. Matteo Borrini from Florence. To date, 280 000 visitors, of which about 180,000 school children, have passed through here.
The return to the centuries-old tradition of olive growing has recently ranked Vodnjan at the very top of the fi nest olive oil producers.

Interesting facts: According to the inscription „Eccclesia s.inquisit Istriae“ on the lintel of the portal, in the 15th c. the seat of the Inquisition of Istria was in St. Martin’s Church. Composer Antonio Smareglia wrote his opera Istrian Wedding inspired by the life and customs of Vodnjan.
The best beach 'station is located 5 km away. You can visit the islands of Brioni, the former residence of heads of state, today a National Park that includes 14 islands. The greater city 'of' Istria, Pula (Pola), known for its Roman amphitheater is 10 km away. The other location 'Istrian tourist are within easy reach.
